Last week, one of the lovely ladies from Tawapa Organic Jewelry made a Twin-Cities-Exclusive stop at the shop so we could get our greedy little jewelry mitts on some of their incredible jewelry. We’ve been selling Tawapa jewelry for a number of years, so many of you are already familiar with the beauty and the quality of Tawapa jewelry. What you may not be familiar with however is some of the new materials, and new designs, they have added to their arsenal of organic loveliness.

We (okay, mostly Liz) have been working hard to get the 300+ pairs of jewelry organized and put into the cases so you can get your own greedy little jewelry mitts on it. We have a small bit of fine-tuning to do, but almost everything is in the cases and available for you to look out, and of course, buy. Feel free to ask for a drool cup.

Sadly, we don’t have the time or space to chronicle every pierce we got, but we did manage to take a few pictures to give you a sampling of what we picked up.

The other day, the folks over at Modblog posted this entry about some really bad body jewelry.

Admittedly, the jewelry shown in the photograph represents a “worst case scenario” piece of junk. While it may be an extreme case, it does serve to illustrate the importance of knowing where your jewelry comes from and what it’s made of. Putting jewelry in your piercings…even well-healed ones…that is made of inappropriate or inferior materials, does not have a , mirror-finish/polish or isn’t designed and constructed with comfort, safety and long-term wear in mind, puts your health at risk.

Stop to consider that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of companies that make or distribute body jewelry. The majority of those companies either make, or sell, jewelry that is made overseas where there are very little, if any, requirements for the materials being used. So, when you see body jewelry at some store in the mall or at your local gas station, and the price is so low you can’t believe…there is a very good reason.

Our jewelry may sometimes be a bit more expensive, because we pay a lot more for it than most studios. However we refuse to take chances with your body just so we can make more money.
